District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that employees of the District Attorney’s Office collected 794 pounds of food items for the Redwood Empire Food Bank. This marked the office’s sixth annual food drive during the months of November and December.
The Redwood Empire Food Bank was founded in 1987 and distributes food through a number of charitable agencies and its own assistance programs. There were over 240 individual drives for the Food Bank this holiday season.
The contribution by district attorney staff this year will provide approximately 600 meals for Sonoma County’s families, children and elderly who turn to the local food bank in times of need. This year’s donations by employees included food items that were more healthy and nutritious than those contributed in the past.
District attorney employee Lacey Green, once again, organized the successful effort on behalf of the office. She worked closely with staff and representatives of the Redwood Empire Food Bank to make this a positive outreach program in the community. Lacey commented, "This is a group effort. It is always rewarding to assist the community in this manner. I am very proud of my co-workers’ continued participation in this worthwhile project."
