District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that he has promoted prosecutor Diana Gomez to Chief Deputy District Attorney. Her selection comes after a lengthy recruitment process involving an oral board consisting of District Attorney George Kennedy of Santa Clara County and District Attorney Grover Trask of Riverside County. Kennedy has been the District Attorney of Santa Clara since 1990 and Trask has been the District Attorney of Riverside County since 1983.
Chief Deputy Diana Gomez has been a member of the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office since 2003 and has been a Team Leader for the Gang Unit. She was previously employed with the Vallejo City Attorney’s Office and Orange County District Attorney’s Office where she obtained extensive jury trial experience with gang and homicide cases. Gomez is a graduate of California State University Fullerton and Santa Clara University School of Law.
"I am extremely proud to have an individual of her caliber join our management team. Chief Deputy Gomez brings a wealth of experience to this new role," said District Attorney Passalacqua. The chief deputy vacancy was created as a result of the appointment of Assistant District Attorney Ken Gnoss to the Superior Court.
