DEFENDANT CONVICTED OF SELLING COCAINE

District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that a Sonoma County jury returned a verdict of guilty against Nathan Tyrone Deese last week for selling four rocks of cocaine to an undercover police officer. The jurors deliberated for approximately one hour before returning the verdict in the five day trial.

The trial was conducted before Superior Court Judge Elliot Lee Daum. Judge Daum also made the finding that Deese was previously convicted of possessing cocaine for the purpose of sale.

Deese is scheduled to be sentenced on August 31, 2005. The maximum sentence he faces is eight years in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Jason Riehl was the prosecutor assigned to the case and was assisted by Sonoma County Narcotic Task Force members and DA Investigator Bob Simerson.
