District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that David Scott Romesburg was sentenced to state prison for a term of four years. Romesburg pled guilty on April 5, 2005, for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a fourteen year-old. An additional count of statutory rape with a sixteen year-old victim was dismissed with the understanding that the judge could consider the circumstances of that offense at the sentencing hearing.
The crimes occurred in June and July of 2003. Romesburg was 23 at the time he met his the first victim. He met her through a friend, drove her to his home, furnished her marijuana, and then had sexual intercourse with her. He met the second victim through his family and had sexual intercourse with her when she was sixteen.
Superior Court Judge Cerena Wong noted Romesburg’s history of similar behavior, his lack of insight, and his probation status out of Napa County in sentencing the defendant to the maximum term.
Deputy District Attorney Juliette R. Olson, assigned to the Statutory Rape Vertical Prosecution Unit, was the prosecutor for this case. She was assisted by District Attorney Investigator Ken Pistorio.
