SONOMA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY SETTLES UNFAIR
COMPETITION CASE WITH LOCAL DEBRIS BOX SERVICE COMPANY

Sonoma County District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua today announced a $10,000 settlement of an unfair competition lawsuit against David and Carol Nunes, the owners and operators of Nunes Hauling & Debris Box Service of Petaluma.

The defendants were charged in a civil lawsuit with operating a hauling and debris box service in unincorporated Sonoma County without a license and altering county dump receipts. The Sonoma County Department of Transportation & Public Works Integrated Waste Division assisted in the investigation. Pursuant to the stipulated judgment, filed in Sonoma County Superior Court, the defendants must pay a civil penalty of $5,000, and costs of an additional $5,000. The judgment also imposes a permanent injunction prohibiting the defendants from engaging in similar conduct in the future.
