District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced that District Attorney Investigator Jim Shrum was recently elected the Northern California Vice President of the California Consumer Affairs Association (CCAA).
The CCAA has over 125 members, representing local, state, and federal agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, California Attorney General, and California Department of Consumer Affairs. The purpose of CCAA is to promote uniformity of consumer protection throughout the state. In addition to publishing educational material, the association conducts training sessions, workshops, and forums for the benefit of consumers and association members. CCAA also networks with organizations with similar goals, including the National Federation of America and the National Association of Consumer Affairs Administrators.
The responsibilities of Mr. Shrum as vice president include assisting the Executive Board with the review and recommendation of association policies, and making recommendations on proposed consumer legislation. Shrum stated, “I look forward to my leadership role with the association and believe that consumers will ultimately benefit from our work.” Investigator Shrum is currently assigned to the District Attorney’s Environmental and Consumer Law Division, which also consists of Prosecutors Jeffrey Holtzman, Matt Cheever, and Maria Leftwich.
