David W. Kuskie was sentenced to nine years in State Prison yesterday after being found guilty of committing several unarmed bank robberies in Santa Rosa earlier this year.
Kuskie, 46, was captured on March 26th when Santa Rosa Police Department detectives and F.B.I. agents were conducting a surveillance of several Santa Rosa area banks. Kuskie was arrested when he walked out of the Westamerica Bank branch on Guerneville Road after committing a robbery. The first robbery committed by Kuskie occurred on January 2nd at the Washington Mutual Bank on Yulupa Avenue. Kuskie told detectives that he committed the robberies to support his heroin addiction.
Investigators determined that Kuskie netted nearly $20,000 from
the robberies. Superior Court Judge Dean A. Beaupre ordered Kuskie
to pay restitution to the banks.
A co-defendant in the case, Kerry Lindsay, is awaiting sentencing
for being an accessory to the March 26th robbery.
Santa Rosa Police Detective Lance Badger was the lead detective in
the investigation. Deputy District Attorney Alexander J. McMahon
was the assigned prosecutor.
