GREG JACOBS RECOGNIZED FOR THIRTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE

Gregory J. Jacobs, Assistant District Attorney for Sonoma County, was recognized today for his thirty years of outstanding public service to the citizens of Sonoma County. His colleagues, friends and members of the criminal justice system attended a reception in his honor.

Sonoma County District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua stated, “Sonoma County has been fortunate to have Greg Jacobs as one of our prosecutors. He has built a reputation of fairness, integrity, and compassion for crime victims.” District Attorney Passalacqua further stated that, “Greg Jacobs has served the citizens of our community with distinction over the past thirty years. He continues to be a mentor and constant source of legal knowledge for those that work with him.”

Assistant District Attorney Jacobs, a native of Sonoma County, has been a prosecuting attorney since March, 1974. His tenure is believed to be the longest in the history of the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office.

Since 1995, Mr. Jacobs has been the assistant district attorney, second in command under the elected district attorney. He rose in rank from deputy district attorney to chief deputy district attorney before being promoted to his current position. During the past thirty years, Greg has been assigned to handle some of the most serious and notorious cases that have been prosecuted by the Office of the District Attorney. Mr. Jacobs prosecuted Richard Allen Davis, who was the catalyst for California’s Three Strikes statute.

Outside of the courtroom, Mr. Jacobs has been a participating member on many committees related to the administration of justice, including the Sonoma County Child Death Review Team and the Sonoma County Domestic Violence Death Review Team. He is also active in providing community outreach to middle school students by discussing the legal consequences of gun violence.
