Employees of the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office donated a total of 980 pounds of food to the Redwood Empire Food Bank during the 2003 Holiday Food and Funds Drive. This was the fourth consecutive year members of the office have made contributions to help provide meals to Sonoma County residents in need.
The office food drive was organized by committee members Julia Freis, Lacey Green and Jill Ravitch. They were pleased with this year’s donations and noted that each year the quantity donated has exceeded the previous year’s contribution. Employees donate non-perishable food items such as canned tuna, vegetables, fruit, soups and stews, as well as pasta and rice products. The support from district attorney staff is always overwhelming. This year two employees, alone, each donated over 100 cans of food.
Lacey Green vowed that employees will continue to donate to the annual food drive. She stated, "It is rewarding to give back to the community in this manner, knowing that deserving children and adults will benefit from our help." It was estimated that over 600 individual meals will be provided as a result of the contributions made by the office staff.
In a letter of appreciation to staff from Lee Bickley of the Redwood Empire Food Bank, it was stated, "Together we will fulfill our mission of building partnerships to end hunger. On behalf of all of the clients we serve, we thank you again for your donation and taking the time to care. "
