Posted November 5, 2009: CVEMS Policy Updates
Two policies have been updated effective December 1, 2009:
- 9303 Acute Cerebrovascular Accident(Stroke) (pdf): The change to this policy is in the "Considerations" section. The new verbiage advises providers to "expedite transport if the interval from the onset of symptoms to arrival at receiving facility is expected to be 3.5 hours or less." Additionally the protocol now includes the direction to determine the time of symptom onset as the last time the patient was known to be at their normal baseline.
- 7008 Trauma Bypass (pdf): Language addressing the change to EMSystems as the web-based notification system for bypass notification was added.

Posted October 20, 2009: Mandatory Time Off - CVEMS Closure (pdf)
The County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors has adopted a Mandatory Time Off program that will result in the Sonoma County office of the Coastal Valleys EMS Agency located in Santa Rosa being closed from December 24, 2009 to January 4, 2010.

Posted August 7, 2009: Updated Staffing and Training Policies
Policy #2008: Certification and Accreditation (pdf) (replaces policy 2007 of the same name). This updated policy outlines the requirement to maintain certification or accreditation while working on EMS units within the Coastal Valleys EMS region. The policy also contains reporting requirements for ambulance providers in regard to employee rosters and for accredited field providers in regard to mailing address changes. Policy #2009: 2009 EMT-I Certification (pdf) replaces policy 2008 of the same name). This updated policy outlines the requirements for EMT-I certification within the Coastal Valleys region. Contains the requirement for all Certified and Accredited personnel to show evidence of completion of training in ICS 100, 200 and NIMS IS-700 at the time of initial or renewal of certification/accreditation if not already on file with the EMS Agency. These two policies are effective September 1st 2009.

Posted July 27, 2009:Proposed Changes to State EMT Regulations
The California EMS Authority has opened a public comment period through September 8th, 2009 in reference to changes In EMT-I regulations, the new EMT( Advanced) regulations and the proposed California EMT Central Registry. Proposed disciplinary process for EMT-I and EMT(Advanced) certificate holders are also open for public comment. The documents and comment forms are available at the link supplied here.
Posted July 22, 2009: Proposed Changes to State Paramedic Regulations
The California EMS Authority has posted the latest proposed changes to State paramedic regulations on the State EMSA website. The proposed changes are open for public comment until August 31, 2009. Stakeholders are encouraged to review the documents and use the form on the State website for any feedback they might have on the changes.
