To ensure certification renewal before your current card expires, please submit your paperwork to the agency at least 4 weeks in advance.
You card will be mailed to you.

EMT Recertification
To renew your EMT certification status every two years, you must keep your CPR certificate current, and take continuing education or refresher classes from an approved CE provider (pdf).
These are the steps to follow, and the materials needed to renew your EMT certification:

Complete 24 hours of approved CE, or complete an EMT-I refresher training class |
Copies of CE certificates, or copy of EMT refresher course completion certificate |

Complete a skills competency verification |
Completed state skills competency verification form, signed by one of the following:
- Licensed paramedic
- Certified EMT
- Licensed RN, or
- Licensed physician
A copy of the signee's valid certification must be included with your completed form.
