Proposed Plan Amendment

The Sonoma County Community Development Commission (“CDC”) will be considering an amendment to the Russian River Redevelopment Plan to establish a maximum cap on the amount of property tax increment that may be diverted to the CDC to be used for the Russian River Redevelopment Project.  To determine the appropriate amount for a tax increment cap, the CDC will first undertake a comprehensive identification and analysis of projects necessary to make needed improvements in the Redevelopment Project Area. Toward this effort, the CDC plans to host a series of community meetings, the first of which will focus on how redevelopment impacts, and may be able to assist, the special districts within the Project Area.

This first community meeting will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Guerneville Veterans’ Hall at First and Church Streets in Guerneville.  The meeting will provide residents and special district representatives with an opportunity to learn how redevelopment financing works, what types of projects can be funded according to California Community Redevelopment Law and the Sonoma County Policy Guidance for Use of Redevelopment Funds, and various ways that redevelopment can assist area revitalization efforts.
