As part of the Consolidated Plan, eligible housing and community development projects are solicited annually from participating cities, nonprofit organizations, and other public agencies.
The major steps in the funding cycle are as follows:
October/November
Commission solicits input from the community. Board of Supervisors identifies needs and projects in unincorporated areas. Proposals are solicited.
January
Deadline for project proposals. Applications are reviewed and evaluated by staff.
February/March
Public hearings are held by the Community Development Committee, the Technical Advisory Committee, and the incorporated cities, to prioritize proposals and to provide Board of Supervisors with a recommended program.
April Public comment period.
May
Board of Supervisors adopt projects to be funded during the next fiscal year. Consolidated Plan and Funding Applications are sent to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for approval.
July
Fiscal Year begins. Funding Agreements are executed with grant recipients.
