The California Legislature has taken special interest in opportunities for the general public to become involved in local government by serving on local boards, commissions and committees. Information about vacancies in these bodies is available to the public as a result of legislation sponsored by the late Senator Ken Maddy.

A list of all regular and ongoing boards, commissions, and committees to which the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors solely appoints members, or in a joint effort with other governmental bodies appoints members, is available on-line and at the counter in the Board's office. When a vacancy occurs the information is posted in a Vacancy List within twenty days of occurrence.
