About Animal Care & ControlAnimal Care and Control is responsible for enforcing local, State and Federal laws and regulations that pertain to animals and their care. The agency administers the State mandated rabies program including vaccine clinics, reporting bites and the quarantine of animals. Animal Control Officers rescue stray animals, conduct cruelty and neglect investigations, inspect kennels, livestock areas and respond to complaints. The Sonoma County Animal Shelter shelters stray, abandoned, and homeless animals; provides veterinary treatment for ill and injured shelter animals; and offers animals for adoption. Animal care & Control offers community education, a volunteer program, and assistance for affordable pet sterilization. Sonoma County Animal Care and Control provides service for the unincorporated area of Sonoma County, the cities of Santa Rosa and Cloverdale and the Town of Windsor.To view photos of adoptable and impounded animals, visit www.theanimalshelter.org .
