European Grapevine Moth (EGVM)Backyard Grape Growers ~ 2012 ProgramIf you have grapevines, your help is needed to keep the European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) from getting established and spreading in Sonoma County. EGVM is a new pest recently found in Sonoma County. Others in the community are working together and taking measures to eradicate this destructive pest. The Agricultural Commissioner is asking backyard grape growers, within 500 meters of a European Grapevine Moth find, to drop the fruit from grapevines by the end of June. The fruit should be disposed of in your yard waste container for curbside pickup with the lid kept closed. Alternatively, residents can treat the grapevines with an approved material. Products containing Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) or spinosad are available for home use. Please follow the label directions regarding the frequency of applications and any safety precautions. To find out if your grapevines are within 500 meters of an EGVM find click here Maps – EGVM Quarantine. Additional EGVM information:
