| SUBJECT: | Sonoma Creek Clean Up |
On Saturday, August 23, 2003, the Sonoma County Regional
Parks Department and the Sonoma Ecology Center are inviting members of the community
to a creek clean up at Larson Park located just off of DeChene Avenue in Boyes
Hot Springs. From 8:30 am - noon volunteers will remove trash and other debris
from the section of Sonoma Creek that runs through Larson Park. Last year,
4 to 5 truckloads of debris, including old bicycles, engine parts, and mattresses,
were pulled from the creek. Everything that can be recycled is taken away by the
Sonoma Ecology Center. Drinks, pastries and fruit will be served during
the orientation at 8:30am in the Larson Park parking lot. Volunteers should bring
gloves, and wear long pants, long sleeves and sturdy shoes they don't mind getting
wet. Join the Sonoma Valley community as we take an important step in protecting
the Sonoma Creek for future generations. Larson Park is located at 329 DeChene
Ave in Boyes Hot Springs. Turn east on Litchtenberg Ave off Hwy 12, then right
onto DeChene Ave. For more information contact John Ryan at 707-565-2041 or Wendy
Losee at 707-996-0712. For more information on the Sonoma County Regional Park
