Sonoma Creek Clean Up |
On Saturday, September 20th, 2003 the Sonoma County Regional Parks
Department and the Sonoma Ecology Center are inviting members of the community
to a creek clean-up at Maxwell Farms Regional Park
located on the corner of Highway 12 and Verano Avenue in Sonoma. From 8:30
am - noon volunteers will remove trash and other debris from the section of Sonoma
Creek that runs through the park. Last year, 2 dumpsters worth of debris, including
old bicycles, engine parts, and mattresses, were pulled from the creek. Everything
that can be recycled is taken away by the Sonoma Ecology Center. Drinks, pastries
and fruit will be served during the orientation at 8:30am in the parking lot.
Volunteers should bring gloves, and wear long pants, long sleeves and sturdy shoes
they don't mind getting wet. Join the Sonoma Valley community as we take
an important step in protecting the Sonoma Creek for future generations. Maxwell
Farms Regional Park is located at 100 Verano Ave. in Sonoma. Turn west onto Verano
Ave. off Hwy 12, then left into the park entrance. For more information contact
