September 24, 2003 | | SUBJECT: | 'Paws
for Fun' Dog Park Fundraiser | The Sonoma County Regional
Parks Foundation, in partnership with the Garden Court Café, will host
the 5th annual 'Paws for Fun' benefiting the Liz Perrone Dog Park. The event will
take place at Sonoma Valley Regional Park, 13630
Sonoma Hwy (12) in Glen Ellen on Saturday, October 11th from 10:00 a.m. until
2:30 p.m. Admission to 'Paws for Fun' is free, with $3 park day-use parking fee. 'Paws
for Fun' will feature a variety of entertainment and fun for dogs and their owners.
'Disc Dogs', presented by Skyy Dogs U.S.A., will be the main attraction with a
show at noon. Following the show, trainers will hold a free clinic for dog owners
to teach their pet "show-dog" tricks. Dog games, including the infamous
peanut-butter-licking contest, will be held throughout the day. A silent auction
will feature valuable treasures for pets and their owners, including gift certificates
to local merchants and restaurants, original works by local artists, wine, pet
supplies and more. There will also be a dog agility course and pet psychic. The
Garden Court Café will provide scrumptious barbecue lunch fare. The
one-acre Liz Perrone Dog Park was
built in 1998 in memory of a local dog-lover, enjoying increasing popularity among
locals. Dedicated volunteers help maintain and staff the dog park, creating a
safe off-leash haven for dogs from all over the county. Proceeds from the event
go towards improving the dog park. Everyone, dog owner or not, is encouraged to
attend.
