Children's Memorial Grove
The Children’s Memorial Grove is complete! The Grove was officially opened at a special dedication ceremony on May 21, 2010. This beautiful place was created to honor our children who have passed away, and to comfort all those who love and remember them. It includes an entry arbor and a central Memory Shelter. The shelter contains a seating area where visitors can gather.
.
There are also two sculptures created in partnership with Sonoma County’s Artstart program. Young student artists worked with mentor professional artists to create these lovely sculptures in honor of our children. Friends and family have also chosen to remember their loved ones with granite paver stones placed in front of the shelter, and others have expressed their support for the project with pavers placed under the entry arbor.
This project is the result of the joint vision of the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation, Sutter VNA & Hospice, Sonoma County Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program and the Sonoma County Regional Parks Department. It has been funded through public contributions and donated labor, services and supplies. Community support was crucial to success of this project, demonstrating a spirit of caring and support for families and friends who have lost a child. The Regional Parks Department also played a critical role with their generous donation of this 2-acre site at Spring Lake Regional Park. Regional Parks’ staff will also maintain the Children’s Memorial Grove in the years to come.
The Foundation is so grateful to everyone who contributed money, professional expertise, material and labor to help create the Children's Memorial Grove. A partial list of contributors includes:
