District Attorney Stephan Passalacqua announced today that two District Attorney investigators have been selected to fill positions on important law enforcement-related associations that are dedicated to public safety and public awareness.
Senior Investigator Andy Mazzanti was recently selected to serve as the Sergeant-at-Arms on the board of directors for the world-wide Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. Over the past decade, violent crimes involving stalking, workplace violence, and attacks (or threats of attacks) on public figures and officials have been prominent in the news. In response, law enforcement and security professionals are turning to prevention as a key component of the strategy to control these offenses. A preeminent organization, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), is dedicated to enhancing the knowledge base of practitioners in this field.
In addition, Investigator Jim Shrum was just elected as Vice-President on the board of directors for the northern division of the California Consumer Affairs Association. Participating agencies come from city, county, state and federal branches of government. The members encompass law enforcement, mediation, regulatory, legislative, and licensing officers whose primary focus is consumer protection.
District Attorney Passalacqua stated, "We are fortunate to have such highly-qualified law enforcement staff members serving on the boards of two very important associations that are committed to serving the public interest."
