RRROC Election InformationNotice of Opportunity to Serve and VoteCandidate filing papers for the 2009 Russian River Redevelopment Oversight Committee (RRROC) Election will be available from August 20, 2009 through 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009. Interested candidates can pick up candidate filing papers at the Sonoma County Community Development Commission, 1440 Guerneville Road, Santa Rosa, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., download them from this web site, or arrange to have them mailed by calling 707-565-7903. Candidate filing is now closed. There are seven candidates running for five positions on the RRROC. The candidate for Business Owner is: Elio Buck Sierra. The candidates for Residential Property Owner are: Rex Good, Tom Lynch (incumbent) and Ken Wikle (incumbent as business owner). The candidates for Residential Tenant are: Chris Auzston, Dawn Robinson-Warner, and Amber Twitchell. Candidate statements can be viewed below. The community will be given the opportunity to meet the candidates at two public forums: Monday, November 16, 2009 - Monte Rio Community Center - 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 - Guerneville Veterans Hall- 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Members of the community are encouraged to attend these forums. Each candidate will be given the chance to make a personal statement if desired. Questions from the audience will then be collected for the candidates to answer until time runs out.Ballots and Voter Pamphlets will be mailed on November 3, 2009. All mailed ballots must be received at the CDC office by 5:00 p.m. on December 17. Ballots may be dropped off at the Guerneville Veterans Hall on election day December 18, 2009 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Voting will close promptly at 8:00 p.m. at which time all ballots will be counted and the candidates-elect will be announced. The nine-member RRROC meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at either the Guerneville Veterans Memorial Hall or the Monte Rio Community Center. The RRROC provides citizen input and makes funding recommendations for the Russian River Redevelopment Project There are five RRROC seats up for the election in 2009:
The term of office for all newly elected positions is February 2010 through January 2014. Candidate and Voter EligibilityPersons 18 years of age or older, who live, own property, or operate a business in the Russian River Redevelopment Project Area, are eligible to serve on the RRROC and to vote in the RRROC election. The CDC will use the Sonoma County Tax Assessor’s property tax rolls and the Registrar of Voters’ rolls as proof of candidate and voter eligibility. Persons who are not listed on either of these two lists will be required to provide sufficient alternate documentation to demonstrate eligibility to serve or vote.Voter RegistrationPersons who submitted an eligible ballot in the 2007 RRROC election, and whose names are listed on the most recent Sonoma County Tax Assessor or Registrar of Voters rolls as evidence of continued property ownership or residency in the Project Area, are considered as registered to vote and will receive a ballot for the 2009 RRROC election. All other persons will be required to register with the Sonoma County Community Redevelopment Agency to receive their ballot completing the Voter Qualification & Registration Form (see below) and providing sufficient alternate documentation to demonstrate eligibility to vote.
