What does the Assessor do?

Overview

There are approximately 180,000 parcels of land in Sonoma County. The Sonoma County Assessor's Office is responsible for determining the assessed value of each parcel for property tax purposes in accordance with California's property tax laws. We currently have a staff of 83 who perform this complex, challenging and rewarding job. We have two primary goals:
